The CSVP Program offers its credential to individuals who maintain their expertise on a continuing basis. It also offers a Professional Certificate to professionals who need to develop a comprehensive understanding of the discipline on a one-time basis, and Continuing Professional Education opportunities to those with periodic needs for knowledge.
The annual fee levels range from $500 to $3,000, depending on the type of service required, the need for customization of the content, and the medium of instruction. Most participants dedicate 16 to 32 hours to program activities annually, within an established maximum of 40 hours.
The time requirement varies from participant to participant because the maintenance requirements of the CSVP designation are based on the achievement of knowledge and experiential outcomes, and not on hours “clocked.” The outcomes are determined on an annual basis by the program’s Board of Advisors.
The Board consists of five or more individuals who hold the CSVP designation. It is chaired by an individual who holds the CPA and CSVP designations, and who has earned a PhD degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution.
The RISCPA can arrange for customized programs to be delivered through private corporations, nonprofit foundations, trade associations, academic institutions, and other specialized organizations. The content can be structured in a manner that enables colleges and universities to offer course credit for completion.
Participants engage in a wide variety of educational, experiential, and networking activities. A distinguishing feature of the program is the use of small cohort groups that are led by professionals who are specialists in the field.
